ELLEN’S ACRES “CHECKS-IN” AT CARTOON NETWORK
New Series from Animation Collective celebrates the power of imagination
Not since Eloise has a kid had as much fun in a hotel as Cartoon Network’s new heroine, Ellen of Ellen’s Acres. This brand new comedy series is centered around 5 year-old Ellen, her feather duster, her radial tire, the hotel she owns and her amazing adventures. Actually the hotel belongs to her parents but the amazing adventures part is totally true! It doesn’t seem as though there’d be much to do or many people to play with at the Emerald Acres Hotel, which is located nine miles outside of Tonopah, Nevada. Her only companions are her hard-working parents, the folks who work at the hotel, and the guests. But Ellen’s got her big imagination…actually it’s quite enormous! She populates her world by imagining that the characters in her real world are characters in her imaginary one – whether she’s traveling in a sled across the Arctic or experiencing the ups and downs of being a movie star, Ellen proves there’s no place that your imagination can’t take you. Ellen’s Acres premieres on Cartoon Network Monday, January 8, at 9:30 AM (ET/PT)
With a style influenced by anime, retro graphics and illustrated children’s books, Ellen’s Acres is themed around adventure, play, humor and of course, imagination. Ellen creates a world for herself and fills it with adventure.
“Ellen’s Acres gives kids a mirror on life; they’ll see their play reflected and understand how smart, funny and fearless they are. Actually, they will!” says Alice Cahn, vice president of development and programming for Cartoon Network.
Adds Larry Schwarz, CEO of Animation Collective and creator of Ellen’s Acres, “the playful, imaginative Ellen will be one of the funniest girls on TV, a Lucille Ball for younger viewers.”
In one episode Ellen discovers a strange set of footprints behind the hotel and decides that only a dinosaur could have made them. After traveling in a sled across the Arctic and searching through a prehistoric jungle, Ellen finds what she’s looking for in the form of Monsieur Delmas and his very hungry puppy.
