CARTOON NETWORK ACQUIRES ANIMATION COLLECTIVE’S ELLEN’S ACRES & HTDT Double Sale for Animation Collective and Creator Larry Schwarz LAS VEGAS/NEW YORK/ATLANTA JANUARY, 24, 2006 – New York’s animation studio Animation Collective announced today Cartoon Network’s acquisition of two original series, Ellen’s Acres and HTDT. The acquisition adds two more series produced by Animation Collective to Cartoon Network, joining Princess Natasha and Wulin Warriors. The Ellen’s Acres deal comprises 52 eleven-minute episodes of the pre-school comedy that will premiere on the channel in fall 2006. The HTDT deal comprises 26 half-hour episodes of the animated action comedy for 6-11 year olds that will also premiere in fall 2006. “Ellen’s Acres gives kids a mirror on life; they’ll see their play reflected and understand how smart, funny and fearless they are,” said Alice Cahn vice president of development and programming for Cartoon Network. “We think Animation Collective’s Ellen will be one of the funniest girls on tv!” “HTDT is an incredibly funny and twisted take on familiar fairy tale characters in not so familiar stories,” said Terry Kalagian vice president of acquisitions and co-productions for Cartoon Network. “We’re very excited to continue our relationship with the great creative team at Animation Collective.” “Ellen’s Acres and HTDT are for different age groups and are very different shows in tone, pacing and visual style. But at their hearts, they’re both comedies about characters and situations that kids care about and can relate to. The addition of these shows to Cartoon Network’s lineup together with our other series, Princess Natasha and Wulin Warriors shows our studio’s range as well as highlights the core themes of our brand,” said Larry Schwarz, the creator of both series and CEO of Animation Collective, the shows’ producer. Ellen’s Acres is a pre-school comedy about a 5-year- old girl named Ellen, her feather duster, her radial tire, the hotel she owns and her amazing adventures. Actually, the hotel belongs to her parents, but the amazing adventures part is totally true. There’s not a lot to do and there aren’t any other kids Ellen’s age at Emerald Acres Hotel, 39 miles outside Tonapah, Nevada. Ellen’s only companions are her parents, the folks that work at the hotel and the guests. But Ellen’s got a big imagination…Actually, it’s totally enormous. HTDT is an anime inspired action comedy for 6-11 year olds filled with familiar faces. When all the King’s horses and all the King’s men couldn’t put Humpty Dumpty back together again they turned to Dr. Kizami Miyazaki, the King’s top bio-nuclear scientist. Combining Hydrogen, the lightest element with Bombinium, the heaviest, Dr. Miyazaki was able to construct a polymer matrix to bind Humpty’s pieces back together again. A highly powerful, yet extremely unstable force field was created, infusing Humpty Dumpty with awesome superpowers. The radiation caused a realignment of Humpty Dumpty’s genetic molecular structure causing him to be possessed of both extreme mass and incredible weightlessness. Now known simply as HTDT and with the help of Dr. Miyazaki’s 10-year-old son Axel and his babysitter, the beautiful assistant librarian and teen pop star, Arisa, he battles the forces of evil that regularly threaten the kingdom of Happily Ever After.
